The Summit County Victim Advocates provide an array of services including the following:
¨ Provide on-site victim crisis care during an incident and follow-up care
¨ Establish safety plans
¨ Arrange for legal representation, reparations/restitution, counseling, and other referrals as needed (Peace House Women & Children’s Shelter, Children’s Justice Center, Child and Family Services)
¨ Screen clients for eligibility and suitability of orders of protection
¨ Assist in writing and filing orders of protection
¨ Prepare and deliver orders for service
¨ Attend Protective and Stalking Injunction hearings; complete and disseminate final paperwork (orders)
¨ Notify victims of all crimes (Misdemeanor A — 1st Degree Felonies) within seven days of filing of charges
¨ Attend hearings and provide feedback of outcomes
¨ Prepare victims for court
¨ Provide assistance in writing victim impact statements and facilitate the process
¨ Register victim with the Board of Pardons for future notifications following offender’s sentencing
¨ Follow-up with program/advocate assessment evaluation to encourage feedback that will ultimately improve the program
